OConnor Flexible Drive Shaft Assembly

Often referred to as a "whip" in the industry, the OConnor Flexible Extension Shaft for Follow Focus allows you to pull focus on your follow focus unit from a distance. The whip consists of a flexible shaft, handwheel, and an isolator handgrip; each unit has male and female socket ends, allowing you to interlock the components together and daisy-chain optional extension shafts or speed cranks.

The shaft fits into industry standard sized sockets on your follow focus, provides a tactile connection to your follow focus unit, and transmits up to 20 foot-pounds of torque in either direction before buckling, so you can use it to drive stiff lenses. You can use the extension shaft straight on, or off to the side, as it will bend slightly and still allow you to adjust focus. The included handwheel snaps into the female receiver on the extension shaft for single-handed operation, or you can connect the isolator handle between the handwheel and shaft for two hand operation.

• The whip allows you to stand away from the camera and still use your rod mounted follow focus unit to pull focus. The flexible shaft allows you to pull from an angle to the unit and helps avoid transmitting vibration to the lens.
• The shaft transmits up to 20 foot-pounds of torque in either direction of twist, before it will buckle. This allows you to pull focus on stiff lenses as well as freely moving lenses.
• The included handwheel snaps to the shaft and incorporates an industry standard female socket so you can daisy-chain optional accessories such as a speed crank.
• The Isolator handgrip connects to the female end of the flexible shaft, and the handwheel connects to the Isolator handgrip. This allows the shaft to rotate freely while you hold it with one hand and pull focus with your other.
